THE RELEVANCE OF DISCIPLESHIP
And Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea : for they were fishers and he said unto them, Follow me and I will make you fishers of men
Follow me and I will make you fishers of men
Beyond the veil that binds the earth lies memories we lost at birth, rich memories of power, light and dominion now hidden from our carnal sight
We came on an assignment to fulfill a purpose, to live well in a fallen land, to feel the pull of worldly ways, yet walk uprightly all our days. Such was God's plan.
Into Eden
Recalling Eden, man was born with the will to choose between life and death , good and evil, to embrace or shun the Father's will but we chose to leave His presence by embracing sin and iniquity. Our souls would bear the weight of sin, and sorrow, too, would enter in.We knew the risk, we understood the pain when we said ''Yes' to lucifer who questioned: Did God really say
We also knew the advantage of saying no to the one who questioned: Did God really say
Out of Eden
But for His love He gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed.
How selflessly Jesus bled and died that justice might be satisfied, His willing sacrifice the key that opened all eternity…the restoration of Eden
To be like Father was the price and we believed that we could rise, enabled by grace to meet Him without shame or guilt....
What sacrifice will we return?
Shall we receive His gift or spurn the blessings He put in our way?
Will we be His, or will we stray?
Christ healed the sick; the dead He raised;
in every heart, He should be praised
Look up. Embrace the grace He gives
Remember Him…. and that He lives!
He lives, all glory to His name
He lives, Our Saviour, still the same
Come , follow Him, for those who trod in His steps choose to walk with God
No sweeter pathway could we take
Discipleship is for our sake…..
To be His hands, to share His light , to reach for Him in dark of night
We have been called to a higher order, the path of discipleship,
to follow Jesus, to imitate them who through their trust and patience are receiving what has been promised
On this path comes trainings, preparations and polishings for the for works of service, that builds the body of the Messiah until we all arrive at the unity implied by trusting and knowing the Son of God, at full adulthood, at the standard of maturity set by the Messiah’s perfection.
Like Elisha submitting to Elijah, the disciples submitting to Jesus, Joshua to Moses, other patriarchs and all who have been true followers
We are next in line, whatever field we find ourselves: ministry, business, media, academia and all walks of life. The call remains: DISCIPLESHIP
To every one here
Who feels I cannot access certain dimensions of God: Discipleship
To those yearning to build knowledge about Christ: Discipleship
To those in the order of what next for me after salvation: Discipleship
To those yearning for transformation : Discipleship
To those yearning to be true followers of Jesus Christ: Discipleship
To those who want to travel to path of total submission and sacrifice to Jesus Christ: Discipleship
The Call remains: DISCIPLESHIP
